British Library Madras Marriage N2/24/393
Info from London Gazette
Stephen Appears in British Library HEIC muster roll for 1847 L/MIL/11/155 and Service records L/MIL/11/104. The remarks column of this service record are hard to read but the the gist is:
EffSrps (?) april 1856
Remd. to 102 Reg as Private 31/Aug/68
Shipd Ser't off Qups. Vold in 1869 for Gen Service.
Stephen transferred to the British Army in 1861, his British Army record gives his date of death in 1865 and more or less confirms the information on the HEIC records (allowing for misreading handwritten dates).
