Belletty Family from Calcutta
The Belletty family are of significant interest because:
- The Belletty, Rhine and D'Silva families were known to be close friends in Calcutta in the 1940's.
- DNA matches have been identified on ancestry.co.uk which lead back to common ancestors, George and Amelia Rhine.
The matches are between descendants of Latitia Rhine and descendants of her brother, John Henry Rhine.
- Surprisingly, there is also a DNA match to the D'Silva family.
At the time of writing this note I have not been able to find a common ancestor for this match.
The earliest Belletty family I have been able to find is that of Raphael and Clarissa Belletty living in Calcutta from around say 1830
Many of the Belletty families shown on my chart who lived in Calcutta migrated to Australia in the 1960's
The information I have discovered about the Belletty family has come from other researchers and
from British Library documents downloaded from findmypast:
- Richmond Belletty marriage to Blanche Fransz or D'Silva
- Blanche D'Silva marriage to Nathaniel Fransz
- Thomas Belletty marriage to Emelia D'Silva
- Ellen Belletty or D'Silva marriage to Henry D'Silva
- Christopher Belletty Probate and Administration
- Terance Belletty marriage to Ruby Joseph
- Kathleen Belletty Birth / Baptism
- John William Belletty Birth / Baptism
