David Dalzell Staig was born in Antrim Cork, Ireland.He joined the HEIC army in 1830 at the age of 18, on arrival in India he was a Serjeant in the Effective Supernumeries regiment. David was discharged from the EIHC army in 1831 and then he joined the Rajah of Travecore's Nair Brigade as a Captain. I don't know if David married but he was the "Reputed" father of at least 6 children. In his will, David mentions 3 sisters born and living in the town of Fermay (or Fermoy?), County Cork, Ireland.
