Anglo Indian families DNA

Samples of DNA from both the Rhine and d'Silva family lines have been tested by www.ancestry.co.uk and uploaded to gedmatch.com

The Rhine results (which will include d'Silva DNA) give an ethnicity estimate of: 61% Asia South, 18% Asia East, 7% Polynesia, 3% Melanesia and traces from Scandinavia, Asia Central and Ireland/Scotland/Wales.
Looking at ancestry.co.uk shared DNA matches, a theory is developing that the Rhine family may have had links to the Philippines.

The d'Silva results (which exclude Rhine DNA) give an ethnicity estimate of 54% from Asia South, 11% from Scandinavia, 8% from Asia East and traces from other Asian, Melanesian and European countries.

Ancestry have suggested quite a few matches with the DNA of other members, most of whom live in USA , their ancestors having emigrated to USA in the 18th or 19th centuries.

There are no obvious matches to anyone with the surnames of Rhine or d'Silva or to any known person on these lines.

There are, however, possible matches to other family lines:

Simmonds

No identifiable matches have been found in the Simmonds line although the Charleston matches pass through Ellen Charleston to her daughter, Florence.

There is an identifiable match through John Charleston and Mary d'Cruz via Ellen Charleston and her brother Charles or Carl to Kathleen d'Silva and an ancestry member with the user Id of Dboyanich.

There is an identifiable match through John Charleston and Mary d'Cruz via Ellen Charleston and her brother John Joseph or Sam to Kathleen d'Silva and an ancestry member with the user Id of ??.

Shedden

There is an identifiable match through Alexander Hall Shedden and Margaret Graham via Christina Shedden and her brother Charles Edward to Kathleen d'Silva and an ancestry member with the user Id of Anil Heendeniya.

A match has been found between Kathleen d'Silva and an ancestry member with the username of Anita Pike. Anita Pike's ancestors can be traced back to a Robert Shedden b. 1794 in Ayrshire, Scotland. This supports the theory that the Shedden family I have been researching may have originated in Scotland.
